Splinter Cell: Conviction set for a Christmas, 2009 release

It looks like Ubisoft Montreal’s oft-delayed Splinter Cell: Conviction may finally see the light day. According to Ubisoft’s quarterly report, and Yves Guillemot, the company’s CEO, the game will be released this fall amidst “one of the industry’s most ambitious games line-ups, which will include Assassin’s Creed 2, James Cameron’s Avatar, Rabbids Go Home and Red Steel 2.”

Splinter Cell: Conviction was originally set to be released on November 16th, 2007, but fell subject to a string of delays. The story of Conviction is rumoured to take place two years after the events of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, when Sam Fisher is forced out of hiding in order to aid a friend in danger.
