Yoshinori Kitase, producer for the much-anticipated Final Fantasy XIII, attended a press conference today where he stated that SquareEnix has no plans to produce a Blu-ray demo for the game outside of Japan.
When a demo was bundled with the Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete last month in Japan, the region saw a significant rise in Playstation 3 sales. When asked by a representative of VideoGamer.com if such a demo would ever reach Western shores, Kitase replied, “we currently have no plan of doing that abroad, partly because we are going to carry on with the project alongside the Xbox version, so we really can’t just make it available only for the PS3.”
With a Blu-ray demo considered out of the question, Kitase touched on the possibility of releasing a downloadable demo in the future, “we hear that the demo version normally means something that you can download in the West, so that is a possibility we would like to check.”
With the Blu-ray demo clocking in at just over 5GB, we think the chances of seeing a downloadable demo are slim-to-none.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will be released on Blu-ray in North America on June 2nd, 2009.
