Facts, Schmacts: ‘The Sims 3′
  • Release Date: June 2, 2009
  • Platforms: PC, MAC, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mobile
  • No DRM: The only check will be a serial code and presumably a disc check.
  • Movie Tool: Players will be able to make their own Sims movies with the movie toolset, including different transition effects.
  • The Exchange: The online marketplace and sharing community similar to the one from The Sims 2. You can purchase SimPoints for extra virtual stuff.
  • Quality soundtrack: From the dude that worked on the Transformers soundtrack, Steve Jablonsky. It must be tough to be charged with the task of providing music that will still be tolerable after listening to it for hundreds of hours.
  • Advanced Customization: In addition to improvements to the Create-A-Sim feature, such as choosing hair colour and skin tone, the game will also let you Create-A-Style to customize clothes and surroundings. Also, you can pick up to five traits (e.g., Romantic) from a list in order to fill out your characters’ personalities.
  • An actual game (or not): Control whether your Sim gets to pursue their lifelong dream. This sounds like the Aspiration system from The Sims 2 except with more specific goals, divided into long and short term varieties.
  • Collector’s Edition: 2GB USB drive, European Sports Car in-game, soundtrack, digest Prima guide, $10 USD worth of SimPoints for the Exchange/Sim Store
