Nintendo has announced a partnership with Tecmo’s Team Ninja, creators of the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises, to develop a new Metroid game: Metroid: Other M.
Due for release sometime in 2010, Metroid: Other M blends first-person and third-person gameplay, mixing shooting sequences similar to more modern Metroid titles with the classic platforming of older titles. If their work on the recent Ninja Gaiden games is of any indication, Team Ninja’s take on Metroid platforming is sure to be an exciting one.
The storyline of the game will focus on the back story of Samus Aran, protagonist of the Metroid franchise. Her role in the Metroid universe will be more clearly defined through anime-inspired pre-rendered cutscenes.
