With the re-release of Capcom’s ultra-popular two-dimensional fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 this summer, fans of both companies will once again get to battle for fanboy superiority. To further build the momentum of the hype train, Capcom is releasing a series of videos that depict encounters between the game’s most iconic characters. The first episode of the series, debuting today, pits Street Fighter journeyman Ryu against the Canadian with claws, Wolverine. Normally I’d pick Wolverine as a shoe-in to win this one, but after the dreadful response to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, he is no doubt in a weakened state.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is scheduled for release in late July for the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade.
