Looks like Canadian gamers looking forward to Arc System Works’ latest super-stylized two-dimensional fighting game, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, are gonna have to wait an extra few days to pick up a copy. According to our sources in the retail industry, one of the major Canadian distributors for stores such as EB Games, Future Shop, and Best Buy has been held up at the American/Canadian border and will not arrive until Monday at the earliest. However, some smaller Canadian chains, such as MicroPlay and VideoGamesPlus, who use a different distributor altogether, have received a limited quantity. For those eager to play it over the weekend, act fast and you may just get the chance!
Only the Limited Edition version, which includes a two disc soundtrack and tutorial videos, will be available when the shipment arrives. Due to the limited print run of the game, the standard edition will not be available until July 29, 2009. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

That’s…wow. Gonna have to run over to Microplay after class.
If you live in Toronto, I hear that Gamerama (2370A Yonge Street) has it. If anyone else spots them in the Canadian wilds, feel free to post them here!
I live in Montreal though.
man i waited forever for this game -.- and it gets delayed.. again god dam it… are you sure the earliest is monday?
Our source said Monday at the earliest for those major retailers because they won’t accept a weekend delivery. EB Games’ head office in particular seems confident that it’ll arrive on Monday morning.
Wow, the one and only game I’ve been antispipating for 5 months, and the only game I plan to buy for another 3 months, is unavailable in one and only one country, the one I live in.
This better not get delayed any further, it was bad enough having to wait until Friday when the states got it Tuesday.
Well actually it’s not the only country it’s not available in – let’s have a moment of silence for our friends over in Europe, who at this point are never getting the game.
…well forget about ******* gamerama in toronto too; i had it reserved, they called me last night at 9:30 to pick it up, went over there today [called first to confirm they still had it and that it was for PS3 - yes, yes], 1hr later i arrive and the guy tells me it’s sold out; i tell him i had it resevered, they called me, i called them, blah blah and he’s just ’sorrrry, things get confusing around here sometimes’; **** that stupid store…and whoever it was that bought my resevered copy, hope you enjoy it
Man, that is a raw deal right there.
Having worked at the Game Shack at the Atrium on Bay for about 4 years during my university years, let me tell you that “confusing” story is bullshit. A lot of times we would let the reserve copy go to a frequent customer just to keep them happy. Other times if we suspect a person wouldn’t show up, we’d make the sale.
I’m sure all the small shops do this, unfortunately, because they can’t afford to be stuck with stock when they’ve taken a chance on a niche title, especially limited editions. Most of the owners aren’t gamers themselves so they have no idea how anticipated a certain title is. I remember having to beg my manager to order a couple of copies of Amplitude.
nothing got “confusing”, when I bought my copy the guy outright said that he was probably going to sell the ones that were reserved. he was resentful that his boss had allowed people to reserve any, but it was his own dick move to sell them (which didn’t make any sense, because they’re apparently only making like $4 markup on the game from wholesale, and all they accomplish by unloading preorders to walk-ins is pissing off their pre-order customers)
I dunno who that new guy is, I haven’t seen him there a lot, but he was definitely coming off like a pretty big dick both times I was in there this week. Sorry you got screwed, man
I just lucked out because I work nearby and went in on my lunch just when they were running out of walk-in copies.
GameCentre in downtown Toronto still had some left, but they are selling for $80 (with $10 markup on top of currency markup). Bastards.
I didn’t preorder it, hopefully I will be lucky enough to get one on Monday.
Hey thanks for this article. I feel better now that I know why Blazblue isn’t in EB Games. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait since the only stores who sell games that I can get to in Saskatoon are EB Games, Futureshop, Wallmart, Zellers, and the occasional Radioshack or whatever it’s called these days.
We had a Microplay but the location was terrible so it shut down.
Oh yeah, the title made me laugh.
Hehe, no problem! I just hope my source was accurate and more people get to play this game come Monday. If not for a little shop in Oshawa, Ontario (named G.A.M.E.S), we would never have got the game either!
Hey Richard where is that little shop in Oshawa. I’ve only moved to Oshawa last year. I rather buy games from a lesser known store then ebgames or futureshop.
Thanks
They’re located at 1100 Simcoe Street, south of Taunton Road. They held onto a copy for me despite getting plenty of requests for it and kept the store open a few extra minutes so that I could get there on time! Awesome service!
A finally information thats not “I dont know come in tommorow” where I wasted 4 hours of my life going to the mall to find out if its in. Went to like 7 diffrent places with nothing I thought maybe it will never come here. Thanks a bunch guys for this
kay kool if it doesnt come by monday there will be a trigger calamity happening at ebs head office
Several EB Games in Canada got their copies in today, so it looks like the Monday date is legit.
Yeah, I heard that. It makes me happy because I’m bored out of my mind waiting. Hppefully those of us in the prairies will get it on Monday.
Are you certain its monday omg…omgomgomgomg im excited..as hell if it is…..omgomgomgomgomomg
I don’t know why you all go to those other stores. getting charged extra money, having your pre order sold on you. i get my games form video games plus on wilson in toronto. not only was my pre-order copy waiting there for me , they called me. as soon as it came in, didn’t cost me a penny more. BUT they also have a program called the preorder plusclub, every game that i pre-ordered i get a stamp on a card when i fill up all the stamps its worth a bran new $60.00 game for FREE! why would i get my games anywhere else, your dumb if you do.
If one day I move out to Toronto, I’ll remember that place.
What pisses me off the most is that, since I cannot afford to own it (yet), I was hoping that either Rogers or Blockbuster would have it to rent and neither does. Which means I will have to wait months for a used copy of the standard edition to play it.
