“The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2,” added Take-Two CEO Ben Feder. “We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve.”
With those devastating words, Take-Two tells Bioshock fans they will have to wait until the first half of 2010 because of some quality control on the sequel. But wait! Even though it’s not quite an aquatic adventure, we can certainly slate our thirst with Heavy Rain this year?
Sorry to burst your fragile, diaphanous sphere, but Heavy Rain will also be delayed until 2010. The reason? Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere says that “it’s not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas.” Though this assessment is probably correct, it’s also not ideal to spend 5 years hyping up a game and then not release it, either. Looks like the Origami Killer will be on the loose for just a few more months.
The delayed to 2010 wagon gets even more crowded though, as Take-Two also announced that Redemption and Mafia 2 will also be kicked back to sometime in 2010.
