Square Enix today made the announcement that millions of role-playing game fans throughout North America were waiting to hear: Final Fantasy XIII will see its North American release on March 9, 2010. The long-awaited love-child of Director Motomu Toriyama, who directed Final Fantasy VII, X, and X-2, as well as character designer Tetsuya Nomura and art director Isamu Kamikokuryo, Final Fantasy XIII will be the first non-MMO title in the celebrated franchise to see a multi-platform release, as well as high-definition graphics.
“We know that our fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installation of the franchise – Final Fantasy XIII will exceed all expectations,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix, Inc. “Coming simultaneously to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for the first time, Final Fantasy XIII will be available to all players who are looking for the most immersive gaming experience of 2010.”
Square Enix also announced that Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Leona Lewis was brought on board to provide the theme song for the North American version of the game. Entitled My Hands, the theme song will also appear on Leona’s second album, Echo.
So start saving your pennies and start charging your Limit Break gauge, March is going to be awesome.
