The Xbox 360’s Fall Update (if we’re still allowed to call it that) has finally landed on consoles across Canada, giving Canadians the opportunity to stay connected to their favourite social networks, Facebook and Twitter, when taking a break from Modern Warfare 2 (do people do that?). Facebook requires a small download of 90mb before it can be used, but the Twitter application has been integrated seamlessly into the Dashboard to allow for immediate tweeting.
In addition to the social networking suite, the Dashboard update also brings plenty of new media to the Xbox 360, including some home-grown content. In addition to the Zune Video service, the Video Marketplace will allow users to instantly stream television shows and movies in 1080p high definition from studios such as, CBC Television, The Comedy Network, Nickelodeon, MTV and more.
Sadly, the Last.FM service that was previously announced as part of the update is exclusive to our American friends to the South. Here’s hoping that Canadians will gain access to the service in the future, because it was the one I was most excited about using.
Now all we need is a web browser so that we can make GameNorth posts without having to leave our couch! That would be so win.
