Rock Band DLC – Got Sunshine In A Bag Edition

Harmonix and MTV Games have announced today that a three pack of songs from Gorillaz, the virtual band created by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, will be making their way to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week. A selection of songs from their self-titled album as well as Demon Days, the Gorillaz three pack includes Clint Eastwood, Feel Good Inc., and Re-Hash. Joining Gorillaz next week are four songs from legendary classic rock bands, including The Who, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Airplane.

The Wii back-catalog additions for next week include tracks from Blink-182, Damone, KISS, and Weezer, in addition to classic rock tracks from Steve Miller Band and Pat Benatar. With these additions, the Wii Rock Band Music Store offers more than 575 tracks for download.

Rock Band DLC – It’s About Damn Time Edition

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that they have finally come to their senses and decided to add Weezer’s My Name is Jonas to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week. Furthermore, we’ll also get Weezer’s Undone – The Sweater Song and their internet sensation filled with internet sensations, Pork and Beans.

Joining Weezer next week will be three songs from Blink-182, three more tracks from legendary rockers KISS, and a solitary track from Damone.

PlayStation Store games go on sale, receive a dose of Namco classics

This week’s PlayStation Store update offers gamers something a little different than usual: a sale on select downloadable games lasting until next week’s update on July 23. The sale includes seven PlayStation Store titles spanning a variety of genres, such as WipEout HD, Brain Challenge, and PixelJunk Eden. The included titles are as follows:

The PlayStation Store takes you back to 1943 this week

PlayStation 3 owners get a dose of historical warfare today with the release of Electronic Arts and DICE’s Battlefield 1943. Plagued with server issues during the Xbox Live Arcade launch of the game, we hope that its arrival on the PlayStation Network will go much more smoothly. How are we supposed to control Wake Island when our bullets suffer a two second delay? I know war was much less technical back then, but that’s pushing it. Battlefield 1943 is available for $14.99, and as a limited time offer, it’ll be bundled with an XMB Theme!

Also appearing in the PlayStation Store this week is Buzz Junior: Robo Jam, a game where mischievous robots get sent to Robot Boot Camp! Rock Band DLC – Green Day and friends

After announcing that the band will soon have a presence in Rock Band, Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that three songs from multi-platinum punk rockers Green Day will be available in the Rock Band Music Store next week, among others.

These Green Day tracks are the first in the announced partnership between MTV Games’ Harmonix and the Warner Music Group to bring Green Day’s music library to Rock Band as downloadable content. The first three tracks – all appearing on Green Day’s newest album, 21st Century Breakdown – are 21 Guns, Know Your Enemy, and East Jesus Nowhere.

‘Rock Band’ Wii plays catch-up with Pearl Jam, Mission of Burma, The Offspring

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that sixteen tracks from artists such as Pearl Jam, Mission of Burma, and The Offspring are coming to Rock Band Music Store this week for the Nintendo Wii. Additionally, songs from Harvey Danger, Panic at the Disco, and George Thorogood will help the Rock Band Wii music library catch up to its high-definition console competitors.

Rock Band DLC – This is Spinal Tap

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that four tracks from England’s loudest Heavy Metal band, Spinal Tap, will be coming to the Rock Band Music Store next week. Forever immortalized in the 1984 rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, which the band quickly labelled as a “hatchet job” and an “assassination of character,” Spinal Tap are known as the only band capable of turning it up to eleven. Joining Spinal Tap in the Rock Band Music Store next week will be Evanescence, with three of their greatest hits, including Bring Me To Life.

‘Rock Band’ to be the exclusive gig for Green Day

While the Guitar Hero franchise may have forever won my heart, MTV Games and Harmonix are doing their very best to win it back. The music game developing duo today announced that Grammy Award winning punk band Green Day will be bringing their library of awesome tunes exclusively to the Rock Band franchise. And no, this isn’t going to be a separate Rock Band game that’ll require you to swap discs every time you want to play their music, Green Day’s music will be delivered in the form of some sweet downloadable content.

The first selection of Green Day songs to arrive will be a three-pack of songs from their latest release, 21st Century Breakdown. Arriving on July 7th, the pack will include the tracks 21 Guns, Know Your Enemy and East Jesus Nowhere. Additional Green Day tracks will be announced at a later date.

“Green Day not only rock hard, but are also epic storytellers,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks, Music, LOGO and Film. “Their message and their music have been the voice and sound of this generation. The addition of Green Day is a huge victory for MTV and our audience, and marks another landmark in our efforts to bring the best artists to Rock Band.”

E3 2009 – All you need is love (and an Xbox 360)

Today at the Microsoft Press Conference, the remaining members of the Fab Four and Yoko were brought onto the stage to make a few announcements about the upcoming game that’s going to be bigger than that Jesus game: The Beatles: Rock Band. Of note, there is an exclusive track available through Xbox Live at launch, All You Need is Love, and the profit from this track will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. This charity was picked by the members of the band themselves, so get your points ready!

Forty-five songs will be packaged with the disc, and the first album that will be available for download is Abbey Road. The ten songs that have been revealed thus far are:

Rock Band DLC – The Zombies Linger in the Ministry

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that three tracks from industrial rock pioneers Ministry will be available for download from the Rock Band Music Store next week. Joining Ministry will be two tracks from 60s undead English rock band The Zombies, as well as Irish alternative rockers The Cranberries. Unfortunately, Harmonix and MTV Games missed a perfect opportunity to release The Cranberries’ popular single Zombie, opting for the much more subdued Linger instead.
